Count carefully, add and subtract small numbers

๐Ÿ” Counting carefully

Sometimes objects overlap or hide. Count each one, touch or point as you count. Don't miss the one behind the box or under the table!

Slow down ๐Ÿข Point to each object. Say the number. Don't rush. If you lose count, start again.

โž• Adding small numbers

Adding means putting groups together. If you have 3 apples in one basket and 4 apples in another, you put them together: 3 + 4 = 7 apples altogether.

Use your fingers if it helps! Hold up 3 fingers on one hand, 4 on the other, and count them all.

๐ŸŽ + ๐ŸŽ + ๐ŸŽ + ๐ŸŽ = ๐ŸŽ + ๐ŸŽ + ๐ŸŽ
3 + 4 = 7

โž– Taking away (subtracting)

If you have 8 sweets and eat 3, you have 8 โˆ’ 3 = 5 left.

Think: "What do I start with? What goes away? What stays?"
