🔁 Repeating patterns
A pattern like ★●●★●●★●● repeats every 3. To find the 100th symbol:
- 100 ÷ 3 = 33 remainder 1
- The 100th symbol is the same as the 1st = ★
Always use the remainder!
The remainder tells you which position in the repeating block you land on.
📈 Growing sequences
In the sequence 2, 5, 8, 11, ... each term increases by 3.
- The nth term = 2 + 3(n−1)
- For squares 1, 4, 9, 16, ... the differences grow: 3, 5, 7 — that's a clue it's n²
Look at the differences between terms. If they're constant, you can find a formula!
🔢 Symbol codes
When symbols replace digits, look for patterns. If ◻◊, ♡△, ♡◻ are three consecutive numbers, then ♡ is one more than ◻ in the tens place (or the same if there's no carry).
Think about how digits change when you count up. The pattern tells you which symbols go with which numbers.
